Against the Current

Against the Current
The painting Against the Current draws inspiration from the work of American sculptor and designer Ken Kelleher and develops the theme of individuality and the courage to find one’s own path.
The composition presents a dynamic group of colorful fish swimming together in one direction, while a few of them turn the opposite way – against the current. This contrast becomes the central motif of the artwork. The fish are not just a natural element but a symbol of decision-making, bravery, and the ability to stand out from the majority.
The vivid palette emphasizes diversity and uniqueness. Each fish has its own color, pattern, or shade, underlining the idea that every person is unique. Bright, striking tones create a lively atmosphere that radiates energy and optimism.
The painting opens the theme of personal growth, which begins when we step out of our comfort zone and choose a path that is not always easy or popular. “Swimming against the current” here becomes a metaphor for searching for one’s own direction, meaning, and fulfillment.
Against the Current is dedicated to those who value freedom, courage, and authenticity. It reminds us that being different is not a weakness but a strength – the ability to bring new perspectives, discover innovative solutions, and explore new horizons.
